Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology: July 2025
July 7 takes us into the month of the Water Sheep. We’re now in the sixth month of the Wood Snake year according to the Chinese solar calendar. In the Flying Star Feng Shui chart, monthly star 6 of authority, associated with the Heaven trigram, takes center stage, amplifying the influences of Heaven on Earth.
In the Northern hemisphere, we’ve entered a seasonal marker called “Slight Heat” in this last month of summer, with Yang starting to give way to Yin after reaching a peak at summer solstice. With Yin rising again, calm the heart from summer’s highs by slowing down. Tune in to Yin Earth’s frequency of peace contained in the Sheep when you need to return to the center.
The arrival of the Sheep or the Goat month heralds the dog days of summer each year, as Sirius the Heavenly Wolf star also appears to rise alongside the Sun. Note that whenever the Sun aligns with Sirius in Cancer in this time of year, they also face Vega, one of the most important stars in Taoism, in Capricorn almost exactly opposite Sirius. Think of Vega as having our backs during the Sirius gateway. You can look up Vega, the brightest star in the Summer Triangle, in the evening sky this month to connect with her frequency of unconditional love.
As one of the ten spiritual pillars, the Water Sheep heightens our intuition and connection to spirit, which makes this month a powerful time for healing, prayers, and manifesting rituals, especially in the first week of the month with the Sun in alignment with Sirius as well as Vega on the other side.
With Yin Water in the heavenly frequency of the month, wisdom is available to those who search for it, but we must dig deeper amidst conflicting info as the water is rather muddy from mixing with Yin Earth’s soil in the Sheep. Be gentle in dealing with your fears and anxiety – let the mud settle and allow the water to clear. Meditation can help us tap deeper into Yin Water’s intuitive power.
The strongest of the four Earth signs, the Sheep helps us transition from late summer to fall. As the element between seasons, Earth occurs twice more often than each of the other four elements in the Chinese calendar, making it the most abundant element in nature and the connecting bridge to the elements. Thus July is a time of settling down and getting ready for the next chapter after an active, social month of the Horse in June.
Dampness is a common health issue in the late summer months, a condition that arises when heat and humidity encounter overly strong Earth element. Keep your body moving (though gently) to prevent lethargy and gastrointestinal disorders associated with dampness. Cool the body by eating foods that are Yin / cooling in nature such as cucumber, watermelon, berries, jicama, pear, peppermint, root veggies, and leafy greens. Metal element foods such as ginger, chili peppers, turmeric, and kimchi help disperse internal heat. Eat simply – one or two-course meal is more comforting to the stomach than a multi-course set.
Signs and day masters with affinity to the Sheep
The signs that are in harmony with the Sheep are secret friend the Horse and allies the Rabbit and the Pig. Those with these signs in their chart can generally expect a more supportive, collaborative month ahead. For those born in the year of the Ox, the sign opposite the Sheep, as well as the Dog and the Dragon, the signs that square the Sheep, it would be wise to take extra care of their health and wellbeing, especially if one’s natal chart contains both the Ox and the Dog.
If you were born in a Yang Earth, Yang Wood, or Yang Metal year or day, the Sheep month is a good time to schedule personal, medical, or professional consultations as the Sheep is your Divine Support (“nobleman star”), providing guidance and assistance which can come through loved ones, colleagues and strangers alike. *Yang Earth years are years that end with 8, such as 1998, 2008, 2018, and so on; Yang Wood years are years that end with 4, such as 1984, 1994, and so on; Yang Metal years are years that end with 0 such as 2010 and 2020. You can calculate your natal BaZi birth chart using this chart calculator to discover the element of your birthday (which is also called your self-element or day master - this is the most important element in your chart and much more significant than the element and sign of your year of birth.)

Join my online course on Chinese astrology (BaZi)! Activating the stars in your chart is one of the ways you can apply Chinese metaphysics as a strategic tool to give yourself a competitive edge so you can keep leveling up. Learning how to read your own chart yourself, rather than getting a reading, will offer you a much deeper understanding of how the elements and the signs influence your actions. After all, you know yourself better than anyone! You’ll learn how to work with the stars as well as your favorable elements and animal signs, and collaborate with divine timing. For more info on the course, which starts on August 23, and how to register, click here.
Knowing your chart will empower you to rise to your full potentials. The art of Chinese metaphysics works with the forces of Heaven, Earth, and the Self. Heaven provides divine guidance through intuition, divine timing, and awareness of the natal potentials contained in one’s birth chart. Earth, the environment we live in, brings us abundance and opportunities (which can be further activated by Feng Shui). Our free will and the actions we take, which come from the Self, also influence and differentiate our internal and external worlds. A full integration of the three aspects of Chinese metaphysics empowers us to take the most strategic actions in the right place at the right time.
Hexagram of the Month: hexagram 47, Exhaustion
The I-Ching hexagram for the Water Sheep pillar can give us additional guidance for the month ahead. Hexagram 47, Exhaustion, features Water trigram below Lake trigram, which is an image of confinement. We may feel trapped by our fears. Use your fear as a motivator to break out of a rut instead of letting it drag you deeper into the abyss.
Feng Shui for the Water Sheep month (July 7 - August 6)
In the Flying Star chart for the month of the Water Sheep, the numbers in green are the annual stars for the current year (good until February 3, 2026), while the numbers in blue refer to the monthly stars (good from July 7 to August 6, 2025).
The number in the center and its corresponding trigram can give us further insights into the general moods and themes of that period, whether it’s an annual number or a monthly number. This month, star 6 of power and authority, associated with Yang Metal and the Heaven trigram, “flies” to the center of the monthly Feng Shui Flying Stars chart. The various meanings associated with the ruling trigram of a specific period can provide us with messages and guidance to issues that may arise during the particular period, just like the five elements can provide insights for what lies ahead.
The Heaven trigram represents the creative force, the Father, and the wise masculine. The three solid Yang lines in the trigram depict the ultimate Yang: pure light in the sky originating from Heaven, indicating that major changes and events are the works of heavenly forces. This is a month to listen to the spirit within and go deeper into the language of the stars.
This month’s most vibrant sectors are the South, with monthly star 1 of wisdom combining with annual star 6 of authority; the East, with monthly star 4 of romance and academic excellence strengthening annual star 9 of joy and prosperity, and the West, with the still vibrant monthly star 8 of past prosperity. Do most of your daily activities in these sectors of your home or office to take advantage of the auspicious energies. You may find yourself being more productive and happier when you spend more time in these sectors. The East especially makes a good space for entertaining and creative activities. The Southwest still benefits from annual star 8 in the sector, however do keep in mind it’s also visited by monthly star 3 of arguments, which can bring conflicts and irritability.
The sectors afflicted by the annual or monthly star 5 of misfortune and star 2 of illness should ideally be kept clean and quiet, but if you can’t avoid them, use them mindfully – no loud noises or banging the doors. In July, these sectors are the Northeast, Southeast, North, and the center. The Northeast, in particular, has been an area of concern this year visited by annual star 5 of misfortune, an Earth element star whose influences are even more strengthened in this Earth element sector and amplified this month by monthly star 9. With annual star 2 in the center, remember to use the center mindfully to avoid activating it, especially if you or your family haven’t been feeling well this year. Reinforce all doors and windows located in the North and Northwest sectors, visited by annual and monthly stars 7, associated with robbery and fire dangers.
*Keep in mind that the effects of the visiting stars are also influenced by their interactions with the natal stars.
