Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology: April 2024
April 4 takes us into the Earth Dragon month in the Chinese solar calendar, the third month of the Wood Dragon year. We’re now in the last month of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Feng Shui Flying Star chart, the monthly stars are duplicates of the annual stars, with star 3 of arguments in the center. With double the Dragons and double the flying stars amplifying the energies of the Wood Dragon year, April’s poised to be the year’s most sensitive month, presenting us with challenges as well as breakthroughs.
With Yang Earth in the heavenly frequency of the month and in the Dragons, we can really move mountains this month if we’ve built a solid foundation. Associated with mountains, canyons, and sacred temples of the world, Yang Earth is rooted to the ground but also connected to the heaven above. As a Yang Earth sign, the Dragon empowers us with grit, determination, and confidence to manifest our dreams. Yang Earth can also represent obstacles and blockage. Imagine a tall, imposing mountain or a giant boulder blocking the path. Yang Earth may seem immovable, but when it does move, the impact is usually far-reaching and groundbreaking. We may be in situations that require us to stand still, or take a big leap of faith.
Big is the keyword this month. The energies are big - the Dragon doesn’t do anything small, after all, and with double the Dragons, significant events that happen during the month will be big in scale. Stay vigilant, especially if you’re in a Yang Earth environment (such as mountains and rocky areas), or during Dragon hours (7-9am) and on days of the Dragon, which are April 10, April 22, and May 4, as well as days of the Dog, which are April 4, April 16, and April 28. I also shared some auspicious dates that you can use this month for your most important activities in this Instagram post.
All this Yang Earth in the environment may bring heaviness and sluggishness as well as digestive issues as Earth element is related to the stomach and the spleen in TCM. Move gently if you feel lethargic. Lighten up with Wood element foods such as green vegetables and citrus fruits and Metal element foods such as radishes, herbs, and spices.
You can refer to my Year of the Wood Dragon’s What’s Ahead for Each Sign and Chinese Astrology Outlook for additional insights into the Earth Dragon month – just remember that everything is amplified with the double Dragons! It’s a good idea this month to carry a symbol of the Rooster or the Bird, the Dragon’s secret friend, or the Phoenix, the Dragon’s celestial soulmate and guardian spirit of Period 9 for protection, especially if you were born in the year of the Dragon or the Dog.
Guidance from the Chinese Five Elements Oracle: Gratitude Leads to Abundance
I pulled a card from The Chinese Five Elements Oracle for collective guidance to help us navigate through the Earth Dragon month. The Earth Snake shows up to prepare us for the summer months ahead.
From the oracle: the Earth Snake pillar brings messages of love and joy. Engage in activities that make your heart sing to spark the joy within. Be bold with your love and sincere with your heart. Yin Earth in the heavenly frequency brings blessings from Mother Earth. She will provide you with the resources needed to manifest your dreams. Tune in to her frequency of peace and gratitude. The more you give back to her land, the more abundance she will give you in return for your generosity.
As the pillar that comes after the Earth Dragon, the Earth Snake also presents us with timing, which in this context signifies that the Earth Dragon month is a time of preparation. Hidden elements in the Snake indicate activities behind the scenes. As a travel star, the Snake can move quickly and covertly, but the presence of Yin Earth serves as a reminder to move mindfully and with purpose. The Earth Snake month, which arrives on May 5, will be the time when you can finally emerge from your seclusion.
*You can order your copy of the oracle here and claim your bonus gifts, which include the 10 archetypes of the Chinese five elements. To the many of you who ordered the deck, thanks so much for the support! I hope you can leave a kind review on the retailer's site, as that will help the oracle find its way to more people who are in need of guidance.
Feng Shui for the Earth Dragon month (April 4, 2024 - May 4, 2024)
In the Flying Star chart for April 2024 above, the numbers in green are the annual stars for the current year (good until February 3, 2025), while the numbers in blue refer to April’s monthly stars. As you can see, this month’s stars are duplicates of the annual stars, with Yang Wood star 3 of conflicts and arguments in the center. The double stars amplify the energies of the year: the good sectors of the year are even better this month, while the negative sectors should ideally be avoided or used only when needed. As Fire is the element that weakens Wood in the Chinese Five Element theory, brightening the center space of your home with light or shades of red will help suppress the anger energy.
This month’s most auspicious sectors are the North, Southwest, and East. Activate these especially vibrant sectors by doing your daily activities there. The livelier the space, the better! The Northwest, with double stars 4 of romance and creativity, is ideal for social and creative activities while the Northeast, with double stars 6 of power and authority, is great for office or work space.
Keep the West and Southeast sectors quiet and tidy – these are the sectors afflicted with star 5 of misfortune and star 2 of illness. Take extra precautions when it comes to your health if your home faces one of these directions, or if your bedroom is located in one of these sectors.
Reinforce all doors and windows located in the South sector, afflicted by hostile double stars 7 associated with robbery and fire dangers. Take care when handling sharp objects in the sector.
